To prepare for your enrollment at Purdue University, please follow these steps:
- Activate your Purdue career account and set up your Purdue email account (more information available online).
- Accept your offer of admission and complete the Graduate School’s online enrollment form.
- Research funding opportunities, such as financial aid, fellowships, or scholarships, if necessary. Visit the Graduate School’s Funding website for more information.
- Fulfill the State of Indiana’s immunization requirements.
- Check with your program for your expected arrival date and plan your transportation to the West Lafayette area. Visit the relocation and housing website for directions and transportation options.
- Find housing and ensure your utilities will be turned on before you move in. A list of utility companies in the area is available in the Welcome Packet.
- Obtain a student ID card at the Card Services Office. The second week in August is an optimal time to do this.
- If you received a Graduate Staff or Fellowship Appointment, visit the Graduate Payroll Onboarding website to ensure you are set up to receive your funding.
- Update your personal information in myPurdue. Visit myPurdue.purdue.edu and go to “Personal Information” under “Quick Links” to update your emergency contacts, mailing address, email, ethnicity/race, and gender identity. More information available in the Welcome Packet.
- Sign up for health insurance. University regulations state that International and Graduate Staff students with benefit-eligible assistantships must have health insurance. Benefit-eligible Graduate Staff have the opportunity to sign up for health insurance in the first few weeks after arrival on campus. International students must purchase the University-sponsored plan unless you qualify for a limited waiver. See the Purdue Graduate Student Insurance page for more information.
